HCMC According to a report by StartupBlink, HCMC has increased one place to 110 on the global startup ecosystem rankings in 2025.

At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City also entered the Top 5 leading innovative startup ecosystems in Southeast Asia for the first time. The city continues to be the locomotive of the Vietnamese startup ecosystem, and is also assessed to have sustainable development potential and regional scale.

The StartupBlink Rating Table is a global reputation assessment tool, measuring the startup ecosystem based on criteria such as: Number of startups, quality and scale of support resources (such as incubation, investment fund, shared workspace), global connectivity level, local policies, and innovation capacity.

According to StartupBlink, Ho Chi Minh City has been globally ranked for 4 consecutive years, especially in the Fintech field with a high growth rate and is currently in the Top 30 globally in Blockchain - 2nd in Southeast Asia.

Ho Chi Minh City is considered the most vibrant and dynamic startup center in Vietnam. The city has made strong progress in supporting infrastructure and is gradually becoming a notable destination in the Asia region with a dynamic, creative startup community, active support from the city government, and an increasingly improved business environment.

This year's increase not only reflects Ho Chi Minh City's continuous efforts in improving the startup environment, but is also an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City to recognize and reposition the city's position in the global startup ecosystem.

Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City shared: "The promotion on StartupBlink's rankings is a worthy recognition of the joint efforts of the entire political system and the city's innovative startup ecosystem".

According to Mr. Thang, Ho Chi Minh City's goal is to include the startup and innovation ecosystem in the Top 100 most dynamic startup ecosystems globally by 2030. To achieve this goal, the city focuses on three main areas: Policy, infrastructure and human resources. He emphasized that ranking is important, but more importantly, the quality of practical operations and the sustainability of the ecosystem.

The StartupBlink report stated that the large domestic market is a key advantage, allowing Vietnamese startups to develop sustainably even without expanding internationally.

However, some challenges such as the shortage of high-quality human resources, especially in pioneering technology industries; not many startups reaching international scale; the openness of the Internet environment and digital data... are factors affecting the international competitiveness of the creative startup ecosystem.

In the coming period, Ho Chi Minh City will develop and collect experts' opinions on the Plan for developing an innovative startup ecosystem for the period 2025 - 2030. This is also a necessary preparation step to implement the targets of Resolution 57-NQ/TW, aiming to bring Ho Chi Minh City into the group of 100 leading innovative startup ecosystems in the world in the coming years.
