Dien Bien youth offer incense to pay tribute to heroic martyrs

Dien Bien - More than 800 union members and youth representing the younger generation lit candles and offered incense to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs on the occasion of April 30.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on the evening of April 28, more than 800 union members and young people representing the Dien Bien youth came to light candles and offer incense to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at the Cemeteries of A1, Him Lam, Doc Lap, Tong Khao.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, delegates, union members and young people laid wreaths and offered incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs and outstanding children of the nation who fought bravely and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

This is an annual activity demonstrating the principle of "Remembering the source of drinking water" of Dien Bien youth, especially meaningful during the important anniversary of the country.

Mr. Lo Xuan Hanh - Deputy Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Youth Union - said that the activity of burning Candles and offering incense is an opportunity for the young generation to express their deep gratitude for the noble sacrifice of the heroic martyrs for the cause of national liberation and national reunification.

"Thereby, educating the tradition of patriotism, fostering revolutionary ideals for union members and children. The activity was organized solemnly and meaningfully, ensuring safety and economy and attracted the participation of many young people as well as local people" - Mr. Lo Xuan Hanh added.

Present at A1 Martyrs' Cemetery, Dien Bien Phu City, Ms. Luong Thi Thuong - Union Member of Dien Bien Provincial Tax Department - emotionally expressed: "On special occasions, our youth always remember the origin, organizing the burning of candleces to pay tribute to the martyrs' cemeteries in the province.

This is an act, although small, showing the infinite gratitude of today's generation for the great sacrifices of previous generations.

A1 cemetery has 644 graves of heroic martyrs located right at the foot of A1 Hill and is one of 4 martyrs cemeteries in Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province.

The martyrs at A1 cemetery mostly died in the battle on A1 Hill, which lasted 39 days and nights before our army and people made the Dien Bien Phu Victory "famous in five continents, shaking the world".

The lanterns lit not only warm the spirit of martyrs but also light the fire of enthusiasm, national pride and responsibility of the young generation of Dien Bien today.
