On October 5, at the Vinh Long Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Vietnam Olympic Committee to organize the Vinh Long Provincial Community Sports Program in 2025, attracting more than 800 athletes and people to participate.
The event took place in a vibrant atmosphere, successfully welcoming the 1st Vinh Long Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.
The program aims to promote and educate about Olympic values, while raising public awareness of the role of physical exercise in health and spiritual life.
The main activities include running 1.5km, starting and finishing at the gate of the Multi-purpose Gymnasium on Nguyen Hue Street; performing Dancesport, folk dance with the participation of clubs in the province; and a basketball throwing game that attracts students, students and people to participate.
The program was attended by 300 athletes from the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center and 200 students from Vinh Long University of Technical Education, contributing to creating a vibrant, cohesive and energetic atmosphere.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Lam Huu Phuc - leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province said that the entire Party and people of Vinh Long are participating in the exciting competitive atmosphere to successfully celebrate the Provincial Party Congress.
"This year's community sports program is a practical activity, contributing to improving spiritual life, spreading the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", Mr. Phuc added.
Also at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Lam Quang Thanh - former Deputy Director General of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, Member of the Executive Committee, Head of the Olympic Education Committee of the Vietnam Olympic Committee affirmed: "Sports not only improve physical fitness but also contribute to building a sustainable society.
I believe that the sports training movement of Vinh Long people will increasingly spread, creating a foundation for the comprehensive development of the locality."
The 2025 Vinh Long Provincial Community Sports Program has ended successfully, leaving an impression of the spirit of solidarity, dynamism and the will to rise up of the people in the journey to build a comprehensively developed province.
