Strictly handle cases of illegal fireworks on New Year's Eve

Thanh Hoa - Determined to prevent illegal fireworks from being set off during Tet, especially on New Year's Eve, the police force has deployed many solutions.

According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, with the determination to prevent illegal fireworks from being set off during the Lunar New Year 2025, especially on New Year's Eve, from the first days of 2025, the unit has advised the Party Committee and the government to mobilize the entire political system and the entire population to actively participate in preventing, combating, and denouncing crimes and violations related to fireworks.

Direct the police of districts, towns and cities to concentrate forces, synchronously deploy measures to grasp the situation and step up propaganda and dissemination of laws on the management and use of fireworks, helping people clearly distinguish which types of fireworks are allowed to be used.

During the days before Tet, focus on screening and making a list of suspects of illegal trading, storage, transportation, and use of fireworks to have measures to question, deter, educate, commit, and have measures to fight and prevent.

At the same time, coordinate with relevant sectors to strengthen administrative inspections at markets, public areas, businesses, households and individuals with suspicion. For coastal routes, the police force coordinates with the border guard force to strengthen patrols and control of vessels to promptly detect and strictly handle violations.

Previously, despite many propaganda and warnings, the closer it gets to the Lunar New Year 2025, the more complicated the situation of illegal production, trading, storage, transportation and use of fireworks becomes.

Typically, in early December 2024, through the work of grasping the situation, Trieu Son District Police arrested 2 subjects: Truong Thi Thao Trang (32 years old, in Hai Ha District, Quang Ninh Province) and Nguyen Thi Hieu (38 years old, in Phu Xuyen District, Hanoi City) for the act of illegally buying, selling and storing fireworks, seizing more than 1.3 tons of various types of fireworks. Expanding the investigation of the case, Trieu Son District Police seized more than 2 tons of foreign-made fireworks at Nguyen Thi Hieu's warehouse.

Most recently, in early January 2025, Vinh Loc District Police discovered and arrested the following subjects: Luu Van Hai (in Yen Dinh District); Nguyen Ngoc Hinh and Pham Bao Ngoc (in Dong Nai Province) for illegally buying, selling and storing fireworks, seizing 22 boxes of explosive fireworks (equivalent to more than 35 kg).

According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, from November 15, 2024, just before the Lunar New Year 2025, the whole province has arrested 22 cases, with 45 subjects violating firecrackers, confiscating nearly 4 tons of firecrackers; arrested 4 cases, 10 subjects violating weapons and explosives.
