Boney M was the most prominent disco band of the late 70s and early 80s with energetic music, as fiery as the sunny Caribbean summer with a series of songs such as: "Daddy Cool", "Sunny" or "Ma Baker".
In particular, Boney M's "Christmas Album" is loved by audiences around the world and is indispensable during every Christmas season. The album includes 12 songs, including new arrangements of classic Christmas songs and some original songs.
What makes the “Christmas Album” so appealing is the way Boney M skillfully blends the distinctive Disco style with the sacred atmosphere of the holiday season. The vibrant basslines, rich harmonies combined with the warm voice of member Liz Mitchell create a musical experience that is both familiar and rare.
Christmas Eve for many Vietnamese in the 90s was simply a game of Chinese chess on the sidewalk in Hanoi in the freezing cold, but with a red fire, the fragrant smell of grilled dried squid and a cassette player playing “Jingle Bells”. That was enough for a warm and happy Christmas of nostalgic days.
When the period of renovation turned to modernity, life became more developed, and during Christmas season, audiences still listened to Boney M's "Christmas Album" as an indispensable thing when the Northeast monsoon came.
More than 40 years have passed, but “Christmas Album” is still one of the most beloved Christmas albums of all time. The songs on the album not only evoke the vibrant festive atmosphere, but also bring back memories of the golden age of Disco.
Many generations of Vietnamese audiences, from those who grew up with Boney M's music to today's youth, still regularly listen to this album every Christmas.
This Christmas, the legendary band Boney M with lead singer Liz Mitchell, along with the band Joy and singer Samantha Fox will stand on stage at the “Dalat Spring Concert” in Da Lat to meet Vietnamese audiences.
The band Boney M and Liz Mitchell have performed in Vietnam twice, but this time will be more special as they will play classic Christmas songs in a romantic space in Da Lat City.
Boney M's Christmas songs, from lively to profound, promise to contribute to making Christmas more meaningful and complete for Vietnamese audiences.
In the warm atmosphere of the year-end holiday season, Boney M with lead vocalist Liz Mitchell, band Joy and singer Samantha Fox will bring audiences of many generations back to magical moments, where music and emotions blend to create unforgettable memories.
It is known that “Dalat Spring Concert” will take place at 7:30 p.m. on December 21 at Lam Vien Square, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province.
