On September 10, Phuong Chau Medical Group launched IVF reproductive support service at Phuong Nam Hospital (HCMC).
To improve the quality of IVF, the hospital has applied AI technology. According to Dr. Du Huynh Hong Ngoc - Director of Phuong Chau IVF Center, Can Tho branch, all cells have a development time frame. When fertilizing in vitro, this process starts from one cell and then develops to two or more cells.
During this division process, the cells cannot divide evenly. For example, on the second day after sperm injection, doctors will evaluate the development of the embryo. Previously, embryo evaluation was based only on visual observation of the number of blastomeres (4 blastomeres, 3 blastomeres...) and from there classifying the embryo into good, average, or bad.
However, with the advancement of science, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to this process helps create a healthier baby.
At the embryo stage, AI will take pictures every 15 minutes and create a movie. Based on this movie, embryologists can rewind to evaluate the embryo's development process more accurately, increasing the success rate for infertile couples .
Also at the announcement of Phuong Nam Hospital's IVF service, Mr. Dinh Anh Tuan - Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health (Ministry of Health) said: "In the field of reproduction, the management system applying information technology and biometric identification plays a very important role, because it helps avoid confusion in reproductive support, prevents embryo swapping, illegal embryo and sperm trafficking.
