On July 5, information from the People's Committee of Cua Lo Ward (Nghe An) said that at the first meeting of 2025, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Minh Tu Ward directed the implementation of many measures to rectify tourism business activities, focusing on thoroughly handling the situation of spontaneous water motorbikes causing unsafety for tourists on the beach.
Previously, many people and tourists expressed their frustration at the fact that many water motorbikes often approached the beach area to greet guests, launched at high speeds, potentially causing injury to people swimming in the sea.
Previously, on the afternoon of July 3, the People's Committee of Cua Lo Ward held a working session with functional forces and water motorbike businesses. Here, the local government has clearly stated prominent violations such as: vehicles encroaching deep into the beach area to invite guests, lack of rescue equipment, no safety warning signs, causing frustration for tourists and potential risk of accidents.
At the meeting, businesses pledged to immediately correct violations and strictly comply with regulations. The Ward People's Committee requires water motorbike businesses not to operate in the beach area; fully equip life jackets and rescue equipment; List service prices publicly, transparently and comply with the time and scope of licensed operating areas.
The Ward People's Committee also assigned the Ward Police to coordinate with functional forces to increase patrols and strictly handle cases of intentional violations.
The Ward People's Committee requests relevant units to complete the inspection and handling plan for violations before July 5, promptly report the results and propose long-term management solutions.
Mr. Phung Duc Nhan - Vice Chairman of Cua Lo Ward People's Committee - said: "Up to now, we have brought peace to tourists bathing in the sea, water motorbikes basically operate in the right area. Yesterday, the ward has cleared up the chaos of water motorbikes, requiring all vehicles to be taken seriously to the wharf. All for the sustainable development of Cua Lo tourism".
