On May 8, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh - Head of the Department of Culture - Science and Information of Vinh City, Nghe An Province - said that the city had directed the temporary suspension of all water motorbike activities in the Cua Lo beach area.
According to Mr. Vinh, this decision was made after clips of recording a scene of a water motorbike carrying passengers rushing into an area with many people swimming in the sea were circulating on social media, causing public concern and outrage.
The city has established a working group to coordinate with local authorities to organize inspections, rectify and handle violations. Currently, there are 3 businesses with about 9 water motorbikes participating in providing experience services for tourists at Cua Lo beach.

However, according to Mr. Vinh, up to now, the businesses have not been granted an operating license because they have not yet submitted a plan to ensure the safety of tourists. Vinh City has not approved the proposal to deploy water motorbike services during this year's tourist season.
"The operation of water motorbikes in the beach area is against regulations, posing a potential risk to people and tourists. To resume operations, units must be granted clear lanes and wharves according to the regulations of the Department of Construction" - Mr. Vinh affirmed.
The representative of Vinh City added that water motorbikes are a type of adventure sport, contributing to diversifying tourism products, but can only be deployed when fully qualified in terms of legality and safety.
