On the afternoon of March 4, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hanh - Director of Hoang Lien National Park confirmed the information about a foreign tourist getting lost.
The Dutch tourist got lost on the afternoon of March 3. As soon as the report was received, Hoang Lien commune established a command post at the commune headquarters. We also sent 20 people to coordinate the search and rescue. Fortunately, this morning we have found the lost tourist, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hanh added.

Previously, at around 3:00 a.m. on March 4, Hoang Lien Commune Police received a report from Ms. Nathalie Margaretha Carola, a Dutch national, that her husband, Mr. Christian, born in 1965, a Dutch national, had gone alone to climb Fansipan peak while traveling in Sa Pa on the morning of March 3.
At 8:00 p.m. the same day, Ms. Nathalie Margaretha Carola could not contact her husband, so she went to the police station to report the incident, asking for support for the search force.

Immediately after receiving the report, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Hoang Lien commune implemented the "4 on-site" motto, establishing 2 search teams including: Commune Police, local security forces, commune civil servants, Commune Military, Forest Protection, village team leaders, forest protection teams, organizing search and rescue.
The forces divided into two search teams overnight from Sin Chai village, Hoang Lien commune to Fansipan peak and from the trail in Tram Ton and Nui Xe areas (belonging to Hoang Lien National Park) to Fansipan peak.

At 7:30 a.m. on March 4, Hoang Lien commune continued to establish 2 search and rescue teams of 12 people, deploying the search along the trail along the stream from Cat Cat to Fansipan communal house, and searching by cable car.
"After nearly 8 hours of searching, the authorities found Mr. Christian lost in Sin Chai village, Hoang Lien commune and brought him to the headquarters to recover his spirit and health," informed the Director of Hoang Lien National Park.
