On July 24, the People's Committee of Pho Bang commune decided to establish a working group at the Tham Ma slope stop with the task of ensuring security, order, traffic safety and promptly handling violations that negatively affect the tourism environment.
The working group also had the task of organizing and guiding business households and kiosk owners to rearrange locations and sales spaces to ensure neatness, suitability for the general landscape space, ensuring no encroachment on the roadside and parking lot (reasons where tourists stop to take photos).
At the same time, Pho Bang commune called on tourists to absolutely not give money or candy to children and the elderly at the stop on the Tham Ma slope or on other sightseeing routes.
Previously, on July 20, the People's Committee of Pho Bang commune received a report on the case of a foreign tourist being charged 200,000 VND for a hair New Year at Tham Ma slope.
A group of tourists from Canada, the US, France and the Netherlands are traveling on the "Ha Giang Loop" route and stopping to take photos at Tham Ma slope. A group of children brought hair to Tet, planted flowers for two American female tourists and a few minutes later expressed their intention to ask for money, proactively taking 200,000 VND.
On July 21, the People's Committee of Pho Bang commune held a working meeting with business households at the stop of Tham Ma slope on implementing the regulations on management, protection and promotion of cultural tourism values.
Tham Ma slope belongs to National Highway 4C connecting Meo Vac district and Ha Giang city before the merger. This is a famous stop for visitors to admire the curving pass between the majestic and spectacular rocky mountains of cat's ear. However, in recent years, Tham Ma slope has also been a place for spontaneous tourism activities such as food and beverage shops, children planting flowers, hair Tet asking for money...
The phenomenon of people begging for money, even soliciting, chasing until they get money... at Tham Ma slope has been reported on tourism groups.
Mr. Nguyen Thuat, an organizer of a Ha Giang tourism group, shared: "Recently, Tham Ma slope has seen many elderly people standing here waiting for tourists to take photos and give gifts. We hope that those who come to travel with heart should contact the locality to support those in difficult circumstances.
For primary school students, if they see them at Tham Ma slope from morning to before 11am every day, it means that they have dropped out of school to take photos with tourists."
With many children dropping out of school and fleeing their families, some elderly people wandering around at stops waiting for tourists to give them money, candy, and soft drinks, the locality also distributed propaganda content in Vietnamese, English, and Chinese to tourists and people.
