Need regional tourism products
Mr. Dao My - Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee shared that Phu Yen tourism industry in 2024 has had remarkable growth with the number of visitors increasing by more than 24%, of which international visitors increased by 52%. This is the result of one of the efforts to link regional tourism proposed by the Provincial People's Committee.
The issue of tourism development cooperation between Phu Yen and other provinces has been raised in many aspects in recent times, but the focus is on effectively exploiting tourism resources in the region to create a combined strength. The development of individual localities will have their own identity, but to be sustainable, the tourism industry needs connections to create products.
According to Mr. My, Phu Yen has been implementing tourism development cooperation since 2022. There have been programs to meet and exchange information about each other's tourism products. However, a clear cooperation in terms of products is still limited.
It is necessary to take advantage of the existing advantages of the 3 provinces, which are the potential of the sea, and the eco-tourism of the mountains and forests, but each place has its own characteristics. From there, we will string together the unique characteristics to create new tourism products to attract visitors to stay and return to the South Central region.
The Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee said, "Researching the construction of a sea tourism route connecting Vung Ro (Phu Yen) - Van Phong (Khanh Hoa) - Vinh Hy (Ninh Thuan), visitors will have the opportunity to admire the natural landscape of the South Central Coast from the perspective of the sea.
In addition to the sea route, Phu Yen is currently working with a number of travel agencies to build a railway tourist route from Ninh Thuan to Phu Yen or vice versa. Passengers traveling on these trains to the locality will be supported in terms of policies and guidelines so that associations and businesses can exploit them effectively."
Efforts to bring Phu Yen tourism far and wide
Phu Yen has a 189km long coastline, with destinations marked on the national tourism map such as Xuan Dai Bay, O Loan lagoon, Ganh Da Dia, Hon Yen, Bai Xep... The advantage of attracting tourists to Phu Yen is that the destination is still pristine, not much affected by urban development. Phu Yen cuisine is highly appreciated by many tourists for its quality and low price.
In 2021, Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee issued Action Program No. 09 on tourism development investment for the period 2021 - 2025, striving for tourism to become a key economic sector of the province by 2030.
To do this, in 2024, Phu Yen has simultaneously implemented solutions on planning and development orientation for localities with many tourism advantages such as Tuy Hoa City, Song Cau Town, etc. The whole province currently has 52 tourism and trade service projects.

Up to this point, according to statistics from the Department of Culture and Sports, in 2024, the number of tourists to Phu Yen is estimated to reach 4 million, reaching 117.6% of the annual plan, up 25% compared to 2023. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 30,000, reaching 150% of the annual plan, up 51.9% compared to 2023. Total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach 8,000 billion VND, up 62.7% compared to 2023 and 4.1 times higher than before the COVID-19 pandemic.
