According to Lao Dong, in the first days of the new year, a large number of visitors flocked to beautiful plum gardens to sightsee and take pictures, causing many roads to be congested and accommodation facilities to operate at full capacity.
According to research, room rates under 1 million VND are the segment that many tourists are interested in. Depending on weekdays or weekends, 3-star hotels and resorts range from 1.7 million VND; 2-star hotels from 900,000 VND; budget motels from 300,000 - 500,000 VND/room/night.
Mr. Quang Huy - representative of Glenda Tower Hotel, said that room occupancy is always 100% on weekends during plum blossom season: "We are fully booked for the weekend. Currently, there are not many rooms left on weekdays."
According to Mr. Huy, the number of visitors to Moc Chau has continued to increase in recent days. Hotels and homestays in the central area and places near beautiful plum gardens such as Mu Nau, Na Ka... are all full.
Similarly, Ms. Yen Le - owner of Lee House homestay said that since the second day of Tet, the number of visitors to Moc Chau has increased sharply, and all homestays in the area are fully booked.
“The number of tourists flocking to Moc Chau has increased sharply, especially on weekends, causing our homestay to be fully booked until the end of February. Many tourists subjectively did not book in advance, and when they arrived, all the accommodation facilities were full,” Ms. Le shared.
According to Ms. Le, plum blossom season is also the peak time of Moc Chau tourism in the year, so the demand of tourists increases. The fact that many people take photos, check in and post them on social media channels also makes this place attract more visitors than usual.
Previously, during the cherry blossom season, Moc Chau was only crowded with visitors on weekends. But this year’s plum blossom season, whether it is a weekday or a weekend, the booking schedule at accommodation establishments is still full.
Mr. Ngo Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of Tay Bac Media and Tourism Company said that at present, nearly 100% of hotels, motels, and accommodations in Moc Chau are fully booked. It is estimated that on the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, tens of thousands of tourists will come to Moc Chau, causing traffic jams at tourist attractions and overloading hotels and homestays.
“This year’s plum blossom season is more attractive than previous years as all the gardens are blooming at the same time, falling right on the occasion of Tet holiday and spring travel. The plum blossom season is expected to last for about 2 more weeks. In addition to plum blossoms, coming to Moc Chau this season, visitors can also see canola flowers, peach blossoms…”, Mr. Tung added.
Speaking to Lao Dong, Ms. Dinh Thi Huong - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Moc Chau town, said that from the 3rd day of Tet until now, Moc Chau has welcomed more than 200,000 visitors to visit and check-in the plum blossom season. Every day of the week, the number of visitors fluctuates around 10,000, but on weekends, this number doubles.
According to Ms. Huong, Moc Chau town currently has about 300 accommodation establishments. However, with the number of visitors doubling compared to last year during this time, the accommodation establishments cannot meet the demand for room bookings from tourists.
