Amidst the modern pace of life, the Sinh Ca melodies of the Cao Lan people in Hong Son commune are still preserved by people as part of the "soul" of national culture. Not only is it a simple love song, Sinh Ca also sends love for the homeland, labor production and aspirations for a prosperous and happy life, according to Tuyen Quang Electronic Information Portal (TTĐT).
The Cao Lan ethnic group (San Chay) is one of the ethnic minority communities that has lived for a long time in Tuyen Quang province. Besides costumes and unique customs, the Cao Lan people also preserve a rich cultural and artistic life with Sinh ca tunes and traditional folk dances.
In Khe Thuyen village, Hong Son commune, where there are 351 households, of which the Cao Lan people account for about 98%, the preservation of traditional culture is always concerned by the people. For more than 2 years, the Sinh Ca Singing Club of Khe Thuyen village has become a familiar cultural activity point for the people.
Ms. Ly Thi Duong, Secretary of the Party cell, Head of Khe Thuyen village, said that Sinh ca, also known as Sinh ca, is a form of male-female response singing, mainly passed down orally through many generations. Sinh ca includes singing during the day and singing at night, in which singing at night has a more special color, often taking place in stilt house space and can last many consecutive nights.
According to Mr. Dam Xuan Dinh, Head of the Sinh Ca singing club of Khe Thuyen village, the club currently has 27 members, the oldest is over 80 years old, the youngest is only 14 years old. Every week, members participate in activities on Saturday or Sunday evenings to sing together, teaching traditional languages and melodies to young people.
Although conditions are still difficult, members still voluntarily contribute funds, prepare costumes and musical instruments to maintain regular operations," Mr. Dinh shared.
Dam Bich Loan, a 4th grade student at Van Phu Elementary School, Hong Son commune, is one of the youngest members of the club. Participating in activities helps her understand and love the cultural identity of the Cao Lan ethnic group more.
Comrade Hoang Anh Tuan, Chairman of Hong Son Commune People's Committee, said that the whole commune currently has 4,367 households, of which the Cao Lan ethnic group has 1,368 households, accounting for more than 31% of the population. Up to now, the commune has established 3 Sinh Ca singing clubs, attracting a large number of people of many ages to participate.
The locality also focuses on investing in equipment for cultural houses, creating conditions for villages to organize community activities and cultural exchanges. In the coming time, Hong Son commune will continue to replicate Sinh Ca singing clubs, linking the preservation of traditional culture with community tourism development, thereby spreading the unique cultural values of the Cao Lan people to tourists from near and far.
