Continuing the working trip to the Southwest, the working delegation of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions led by Central Party Committee member and Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung attended a meeting to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025 in Tra Vinh province on April 9.
The meeting was also attended by 341 official delegates, including Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, dignitaries, Venerable, Venerable, monks of Khmer Buddhism, officials in office and retired, prestigious people, policy families, cadres, soldiers of the armed forces, soldiers, intellectuals and outstanding people in all fields who are Khmer people in the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee Le Van Han said that the Khmer ethnic people living in the area account for a high proportion, with 31.53%.
In recent years, the socio-economic situation of Tra Vinh province has developed better and better. In 2024, GRDP growth will reach 10.04%, the scale of the economy at current prices will reach over VND 96,600 billion; GRDP per capita will reach VND 94.36 million/person.
Total budget revenue reached over VND18,600 billion, of which domestic revenue was VND6,300 billion, reaching 101.29% of the estimate, up 10.33% over the same period.
According to Mr. Le Van Thoi, sustainable poverty reduction continues to achieve many important results, the whole province has 0.87% of poor households, 1.84% of near -poor households, of which the Khmer poor households decreased by 1.46%, to the near -poor household to 2.7% compared to the total number of Khmer households; Households with average living standards, households with fair and rich income.
Tra Vinh province has 85/85 communes meeting new rural standards, of which 51 communes have met advanced new rural standards, 9 communes have met model rural standards, 9/9 districts, towns and cities have met standards and completed the task of building new rural areas, Tieu Can district and Cau Ke district have met advanced new rural standards.

In particular, on March 11, 2025, the Prime Minister decided to recognize Tra Vinh province as having completed the task of building new rural areas in 2024.
The work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses has been focused on by the province. Since the beginning of 2024, the province has focused resources on building over 6,878 houses for poor households, near-poor households, and households with housing difficulties; cultural, educational, and medical work has been well implemented; traditional cultural activities of the Khmer people have been focused on preserving, preserving, promoting, and supporting the restoration and repair of a number of places of worship.
The work of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Khmer ethnic groups has received attention. Traditional festivals such as: Chol Cham Thmay, Sene Dolta... are maintained and held annually, creating an exciting atmosphere, community solidarity, associated with the development of tourism services.
On the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year 2025, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung presented gifts to congratulate the two Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and the two Khmer Buddhist monks.
Along with that, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung also presented 3 gifts to revolutionary veteran cadres; 9 gifts to former leaders of central ministries, departments and branches who are Khmer people from Tra Vinh and former Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee who are Khmer people; 50 gifts to prestigious Khmer people and 50 gifts to poor households of Khmer people.
