The activity was organized by the Great Monk of Mandala Tay Thien Tower in coordination with the Thang Long Youth Club - YDA Vietnam and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vi Xuyen commune, Tuyen Quang province.
Vi Xuyen Martyrs' Cemetery, the resting place of more than 1,800 martyrs and a mass grave of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the fight to protect the northern border of the Fatherland for 10 years, from 1979 - 1989.

Located in the administrative area of Tuyen Quang province, Vi Xuyen commune (old Ha Giang), the land of the Fatherland's headland - where people's lives are still difficult and have limited livelihoods - is now heavily affected by storm No. 10 and subsequent floods.
From Hanoi, the volunteer group traveled more than 300km to bring many essential gifts including: TVs, freezer cabinets, desks and chairs with school supplies (books, pens) and more than 80 packages of necessities (rice, noodles, milk, cakes...) to give to boarding students at Ly Tu Trong Secondary School and Nguyen Tat Thanh Primary School.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Van Giang - Vice Principal of Ly Tu Trong Secondary School said that the heavy storms and floods that occurred in October caused historic flooding in Vi Xuyen. Schools were submerged in floodwaters, teaching equipment was damaged due to the water rising rapidly and not being able to move in time. In Vi Xuyen, Ly Tu Trong Secondary School and Nguyen Tat Thanh Primary School were the schools most flooded - nearly 3m deep.
Venerable Mandala Tay Thien, on behalf of the volunteer group, sent his condolences and deepest condolences to the school's teachers and students: "We understand that natural disasters can sweep away property and disrupt learning, but cannot sweep away the determination, the spirit of overcoming difficulties and the aspiration to rise up of the teachers and students here".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vi Xuyen commune, Tuyen Quang province said: "We are very touched by the affection of the volunteer group. The meaningful gifts have come to Vi Xuyen in a very timely manner, helping teachers and students of the school to ease difficulties to soon stabilize their lives and studies".
