Da Nang accelerates wave bump removal, 5G coverage over 90% of 4G stations

In Tra Lien commune (Da Nang), all 8 villages have mobile waves, and Viettel network is dominant.

In order to eliminate wave white spots and mobile wave hollows, functional sectors, local authorities and telecommunications businesses are accelerating infrastructure investment and expanding coverage. This is an urgent task, associated with the goal of administrative reform, digital transformation and improving the quality of life of people.

According to the Da Nang City e-Portal, in many mountainous communes, phone signals are only present in the village center area, the further away the signal, the weaker it becomes and then disappears completely. Complex hilly terrain is the main reason hindering transmission lines, creating connection gaps, directly affecting living and communication.

In Tra Lien commune, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee Duong Minh Anh said that all 8 villages have mobile signals. However, the stable wave area is only around the village center. Out of a radius of about 2km, the signal is intermittent. At residential areas such as Lang Gach, Tac Ngui, Thanh Truoc, communication often depends on "luck or misfortune".

According to the Department of Science and Technology, by the end of 2025, the whole city will have 34 remote villages and residential clusters, mainly in high mountainous areas. To date, 13 villages and residential clusters have been covered. At the village headquarters, community centers, mobile signal has stabilized; some places have 2 or more network operators, with Viettel's 5G network. However, along the roads to villages or residential areas far from the center, signal is still weak.

Before the requirement to complete the target, telecommunications businesses are accelerating investment. Representatives of Viettel Da Nang said that some areas such as A Tu 1 village (Hung Son commune) and village 3 (Phuoc Thanh commune) cannot be deployed due to protection forests. Aur village (Avuong commune) is located in the middle of a primeval forest, without grid electricity, and needs to coordinate to find suitable solutions.

For the remaining villages, infrastructure is being urgently deployed, of which 3 villages have completed the installation of broadcasting stations and expanded coverage. Viettel sets a goal to complete wave hollow removal in 7 villages before June 30.

For 11 residential clusters that still lack signal, progress has also been accelerated in areas with electricity and the location of the station has been determined. For places without electricity, the option of placing the station in densely populated residential areas, combined with generators or solar power is being calculated.

In parallel, the city orients the development of telecommunications infrastructure in a modern direction. The goal for 2026 is to increase the number of 5G stations to more than 90% compared to the number of existing 4G stations, and at the same time promote Starlink satellite internet services, supporting about 500 subscribers in remote, isolated, border, and island areas.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Quang Buu said that eliminating white spots and wave hollows is not only an infrastructure task but also contributes to narrowing the digital gap and improving living conditions. The city requests telecommunications businesses to accelerate investment and coordinate data provision; localities create conditions for land, prioritizing station arrangement at village cultural houses.

Along with that, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the electricity unit are required to urgently implement the project to bring electricity to areas without electricity, submitting it in April, striving to complete it before June 30, with the goal of not letting any people without electricity use it.
