According to a report by the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Vinh Long province, the work of guiding and supporting the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province to organize the 1st Congress of Delegates, term 2026 - 2031 is being implemented on schedule, basically completing many important contents.
After the merger, Vinh Long became a locality with a large number of Buddhist institutions in the Mekong Delta region with 766 tự viện, đạo tràng institutions and 5,822 monks and nuns from many different sects. The Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province currently has 178 members.
The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion coordinated with many related departments and branches to organize meetings and guide the Executive Committee to prepare for the congress. Up to now, the plan to organize and assign 19 specialized sub-committees, develop documents and the congress program has basically been completed.
According to the plan, the 1st Vinh Long Provincial Buddhist Congress will take place on the afternoon of May 22nd and the morning of May 23rd at the Nguyet Hoa Ward Conference Center. The Congress is themed "Discipline - Innovation - Effectiveness - Efficiency", expected to have more than 900 delegates attending.
Regarding personnel, the new term Management Board is expected to consist of 105 members, including 95 official members and 10 alternate members. The personnel structure is harmoniously distributed between the old Tra Vinh, old Vinh Long and old Ben Tre areas.
According to the report, the total cost of organizing the congress is expected to be more than 2.2 billion VND. The Management Board mobilized socialization of about 1.25 billion VND and proposed that the Provincial People's Committee support an additional 960 million VND to serve organizational, logistical and commendation work.
