Information from the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religious Affairs citing a report from the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religious Affairs of Cao Bang province said that before operating the local government at 2 levels, implementing Decision No. 28/2023/QD-TTg, the province's localities had recognized 1,462 People with Reputation, corresponding to 1,462 hamlet/commune units in the area.
Previously, in the period 2018-2023, Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee recognized 6,868 people with prestige among ethnic minorities.
Mr. Be Dang Khoa - Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religious Affairs of Cao Bang province - informed that people with prestige among ethnic minorities in the province are always a role model of solidarity and striving to rise up in labor and production.
They are a "bridge" to bring the Party and State's guidelines and policies to the people, and at the same time convey the thoughts and aspirations of the people to Party committees and authorities at all levels.
Along with that, policies for prestigious people are also being implemented promptly by the province, ensuring compliance with regulations. In the period 2018 - 2024 alone, the monitoring results of the Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee - Provincial People's Council show that the total budget for implementing policies for prestigious people in Cao Bang province is 41.458 billion VND.
From that funding source, in addition to issuing press publications, at the provincial level, 1 conference was organized to commend, 26 training classes were organized and 5 delegations visited and learned experiences in the provinces... At the old district level, 482 prestigious people were visited and encouraged, supported; Tet gifts were given to 10,813 people, 79 conferences were organized to provide information to 9,138 prestigious people;...
Notably, Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 2230/QD-UBND approving the list of communes and wards in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province, applicable to the period 2026-2030.
This is an important basis for implementing support policies and investment in socio-economic development suitable for each locality.
According to the decision, all 56/56 communes and wards of Cao Bang province belong to ethnic minority and mountainous areas. In which, area I has 1 ward, Thuc Phan; area II has 2 wards including Tan Giang and Nung Tri Cao; area III has 53 communes.
The classification is carried out on the basis of legal regulations and guidance from central ministries and branches, in accordance with the actual conditions of the province.
Along with that, Cao Bang identified 1,067 villages in area III and 2 villages in area II as particularly difficult villages and hamlets. This will be the basis for the province to allocate resources, prioritize infrastructure investment, implement national target programs and ethnic policies, contributing to narrowing the development gap and improving the lives of ethnic minorities.
