Joy in new houses
In Dinh Giac hamlet (Thach Loi area, Cam Giang town, Cam Giang district), the new house of Mr. Nguyen Huy Long (95 years old), a veteran who participated in two resistance wars against France and the US, has just been completed.
Previously, he lived alone in a dilapidated level 4 house with moldy walls and leaky roofs every time it rained. Now, the new 33m2 house with solid walls, clean brick floor, and sturdy corrugated iron roof have helped him feel secure in his old age. Mr. Long was moved and said: "I have been through war all my life, when I get old and have a roof like this, I am very satisfied".
Not far away is the newly built house of Mr. Tran Van Dao - a poor household, living alone when his wife died early and his children went to work far away. Mr. Dao is in poor health, living in an old, dilapidated house, at risk of collapsing at any time. Thanks to the support program, he was able to build a new, spacious house with a sturdy iron door, light, clean brick floor. I dont dare dream of ever being in a house like this, Mr. Dao choked up as he shared.
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung - Chairman of Cam Giang Town People's Committee (Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province), right from the beginning of the year, the locality has actively reviewed households with temporary houses and dilapidated houses. The support is made public, transparent and right. Thanks to the synchronization, up to now most houses have started, many apartments have been completed and put into use.
In Nam Sach district, as of April 10, this is the first locality in the province to complete the repair of houses under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The whole district has 25 houses belonging to policy families, meritorious people, poor and near-poor households. Thanks to early and synchronous implementation, the district has completed 100% on schedule, creating a foundation for stabilizing people's lives.
Joining hands for a sustainable home
The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Hai Duong in 2025 is one of the key, humane tasks that the entire political system of the province is vigorously implementing. Through initial review, the whole province of Hai Duong currently has nearly 3,000 households with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs in need of housing support, of which 1,632 households need to build new houses and 1,331 households need to repair them.
In addition, there are 1,273 more poor and near-poor households eligible for support with 686 newly built households and 587 repaired households.
Right from the beginning of the year, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province issued a specific plan, assigning clear targets to each locality. Departments, branches and local authorities are required to closely review the list of households that need support, classify according to the need for new construction or repair, and verify the actual status of each case to ensure support for the right people and right needs.
To ensure the goals of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in accordance with the plan set by the province, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau - Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee has suggested that localities continue to review the needs of households on the approved list, be flexible in considering and approving the need to change between new construction and repair when meeting the prescribed criteria.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province also requested the Steering Committees at all levels to continue to direct and implement the work contents vigorously, striving to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in June 2025.
