Patient A Lang Luy, born in 1979, a Co Tu ethnic group, in Ga'lau village, A Vuong commune, Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province, was admitted to the hospital with severe pain in the lumbar region on both sides, fatigue, poor appetite... leading to difficulty in moving and exercising.
Previously, the patient had suffered from kidney stones for many years, and had been examined and treated many times at the district hospital but had no improvement. Notably, this was a case with very difficult conditions, the family was poor, and did not have the financial capacity to go to a higher-level medical facility for examination and treatment.
After receiving emergency care, the patient was transferred to the General Surgery Department for health monitoring. Here, the patient was examined by doctors, had an ultrasound, tests, and a CT scan. The results of the paraclinical examination showed that the patient had pain due to grade III hydronephrosis in the right kidney due to a stone in the middle third of the right ureter.
After a period of care by the medical team, patient A Lang Luy's health condition was stable. On January 10, 2025, doctors from the General Surgery Department performed endoscopic lithotripsy, dilated the ureter at the narrowed area, and placed a JJ catheter in the right ureter. After surgery, the patient was healthier, had a good appetite, and was in a good mood.

Happy to be discharged from the hospital, while waiting for the "free bus" to pick me up and take me back to Tay Giang, Mr. A Lang Luy shared: "I would like to thank the medical staff of the General Surgery Department for their care and support in creating all the conditions for surgical treatment and supporting with financial support, clothes, milk, and the hospital contacted a car to take me home for free... If it weren't for Hospital 199, I certainly wouldn't have had the opportunity to have surgery and recover like today."
Dr. Vo Thi Hong Huong - Head of the General Planning Department of Hospital 199 added: "In the past time, the unit has focused on health check-ups, free medicine distribution, propaganda, and disease prevention instructions for the community, especially the disadvantaged people in mountainous communes and highlands of Quang Nam province and neighboring provinces. With special cases like patient A Lang Luy, the Hospital always creates conditions and maximum support so that patients can feel secure during treatment."
