In recent years, creating vocational training opportunities for rural women has become one of the important solutions to help improve the lives and increase income for families, especially for Khmer ethnic women.
One of the outstanding classes in Dinh Hoa commune is the industrial sewing class, held at Ca Nhung pagoda. This course attracts more than 20 members, mainly Khmer women. The class is held for more than 2 months, completely free of tuition and learning materials. In addition, each student is supported with 30,000 VND for meals per day, helping to reduce the burden of living expenses during the course.

Ms. Thi Kim Tien, a student participating in the industrial sewing class, shared: “Before, I only did farm work, but now after participating in this class, I have learned how to sew clothes.I hope to have a suitable job at a company near my home to increase my income and improve my family's life.”
Mr. Nguyen Trinh Hai Dang, a teacher from Tan Hiep Vocational College, shared: “Most of the students are Khmer women. They are very hard-working and eager to learn, always wanting to improve their lives. After completing the course, students will have a primary certificate and be eligible to participate in industrial garment production lines, from which they can apply for jobs at companies, helping their families become more stable.”
In addition to sewing classes, the Women’s Union of Dinh Hoa commune also organizes other vocational training classes such as flower arrangement and rural occupations, helping women have more career options. The union also coordinates with local authorities to introduce students to work at establishments and businesses in and outside the district.

Ms. Chau My Tien, President of the Women's Union of Dinh Hoa Commune, said: "We always create conditions for women to participate in vocational training classes to improve their lives. Vocational training helps women have more stable jobs and increase their income, while also creating opportunities for them to actively participate in local socio-economic development activities."
Currently, Dinh Hoa has more than 1,700 women members, of which more than 1,000 have stable jobs at establishments and enterprises inside and outside the district. Organizing vocational training classes for women, especially Khmer women, has helped them escape poverty and improve their lives, while also enhancing the position of women in the family and community.
Women today are not only the ones who take care of family affairs but can also actively participate in production work, contributing to the development of the local economy.
Ms. Chau My Tien added that the Women's Union of Dinh Hoa commune will continue to organize vocational training classes to help more women have more opportunities to learn, develop themselves and change their lives. Career development for Khmer women in Dinh Hoa is a typical success story of the start-up movement and support for economic development for women, especially ethnic minority women.
