Accordingly, in Decision No. 11143/QD-CTN of the President on awarding the Third Class Labor Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province, there were outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, ensuring national security and defense in ethnic minority and border areas, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Bao Lam district was separated from Bao Lac district according to Decree 52 2000/ND-CP dated September 25, 2000. Bao Lam is the youngest district and mountainous area in Cao Bang province.
173km from the center of Cao Bang province, Bao Lam district has an important position in terms of economy, politics, society and national defense and security of the province.
The East borders Bao Lac district; the Southwest borders Bac Me, Yen Minh, Meo Vac districts (Ha Giang); the South borders Ba Be district (Bac Kan) and Na Hang district (Tuyen Quang); the North borders China. The district has a total natural area of 91,206.4 hectares with 12 communes and 1 town, with a population of over 65,700 people (including 9 ethnic groups living together).
