According to VNA, UNESCO Lang Son Global Geopark has an area of more than 4,800km2, possessing a system of caves rich in geological value and prehistoric human traces. With about 200 caves, of which 51 caves are on the list of needing management and protection, the locality determines that this is a "treasure" to develop exploration tourism.
Terrain, geomorphic, and geological conditions create advantages for developing many types such as sports mountain climbing, hiking, waterfall climbing, and exploring subsidence holes. Some points such as Tam Thanh, Nhi Thanh, Keng Tao caves... have been invested in, attracting many visitors.
According to Deputy Director of Lang Son Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Yen, cave exploration tourism is a new type, attracting European, American, and Australian tourists and is environmentally friendly.
Local authorities are synchronously implementing solutions to manage and protect caves; building codes of conduct, requiring tourists not to infringe on heritage. At the same time, coordinating with domestic and foreign organizations to survey, inventory, prepare dossiers, and zone protection for each cave.
In Huu Lien commune, the system of 9 caves oriented for tourism exploitation includes Oc Cave, Truc Dung Cave, Diem Cave, Cam Thang Cave, Xa Ve Cave, Dong Hang Cave, Tuong Cave, Soong Boong Cave, Den Cave. Among them, Den Cave (Dong Tien village) is a new point, still pristine. Local authorities are completing scientific dossiers, building a database, and moving towards ranking relics that meet the criteria.
Since being recognized as a Global Geopark, Lang Son has promoted international cooperation. From 2024 to now, the province has worked with the Australian Business Association in Vietnam, the US National Cave Association, the French National Cave Association and Vietnam Expeditions Company to develop unique tourism products.

From the beginning of 2025, Vietnam Expeditions Company cooperated with Lang Son Geological Park; in June 2025, it signed a strategic partnership and opened an office in Huu Lien commune. The mountain climbing tour - abseiling Yen Son Heaven Gate became a prominent product, attracting more than 1,000 visitors.
In parallel with exploitation, conservation and promotion are focused on. From June 2025, the province signed a cooperation agreement with the US National Cave Association to promote, map, and advise on policies. International experts assess that the Lang Son cave system is still pristine and of great value, but it is necessary to raise community awareness in protecting stalactites and the environment.
With a methodical investment roadmap, Lang Son cave exploration tourism is gradually taking shape, towards sustainable development and creating an impression on the international tourism map.
