According to the Quang Ninh Provincial Electronic Information Portal, in the process of building new rural areas (NRA), Quang Ninh chooses a flexible approach when linking tourism development with exploiting rural values. This direction not only creates more livelihoods for people but also contributes to completing NRA criteria and improving the quality of life.
From the existing potential, the province develops community tourism in a focused and key direction associated with NTM construction. Through this, many traditional cultural values, especially the identity of ethnic minorities, are preserved and promoted; people's material and spiritual lives are gradually improved.
Innovative thinking helps change livelihoods, create jobs, reduce poverty sustainably, improve the effectiveness of implementing the National Target Program on building new rural areas and the OCOP Program, linking economic development with cultural preservation and environmental protection.
Based on this orientation, localities proactively build unique tourism products suitable to actual conditions. Many survey and connection programs are organized to introduce community tourism potential to travel businesses inside and outside the province. Cultural and traditional festival activities are also promoted, creating highlights to attract tourists, gradually forming unique agricultural and rural tourism products.
Yen Duc rural tourist area (Hoang Que ward) is one of the typical models, operating since 2011. Here, visitors experience rural life through activities such as growing vegetables, grinding rice, pounding rice, bundling straw brooms, covering traps to catch fish; enjoying water puppetry, rural cuisine and learning about local customs.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, manager of Yen Duc rural tourism area, the unit focuses on connecting the community, raising people's awareness about sustainable tourism. Currently, there are about 15 households participating in providing services with many local collaborators, creating jobs, increasing income and forming local tourism forces.
Another highlight is Khe Mai Farm in Khe Mai village (Van Don special zone). On an area of about 10ha, the model is built into a green ecological space, meeting the needs of relaxation and experience. Visitors can fish, pick fruits, take photos with lotus flowers, and enjoy country dishes such as grilled chicken and grilled fish.
According to Ms. Dinh Lam, manager of Khe Mai Farm, the model not only provides accommodation and camping services but also links with many households to develop fruit gardens such as guava, dragon fruit, apricot blossom, lychee into seasonal attractions. Thereby, increasing the value of agricultural products, creating additional income and promoting the local image.
Reality shows that the effective exploitation of rural tourism potential is opening up a new development space for Quang Ninh. This direction contributes to economic restructuring, improving agricultural production value, and creating a foundation for building new rural areas in a sustainable, modern and culturally rich direction.
