The Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee has just issued Document No. 4414 on urgently overcoming the consequences of damage caused by heavy rain and thunderstorms from the evening of May 27, 2026 in Xuan Ai, Tan Hop, Van Chan, Mo Vang and Nghia Tam communes, according to the Lao Cai Electronic Information Portal (TTĐT).
According to the direction, the People's Committees of communes and wards, especially localities directly affected by natural disasters, need to urgently mobilize forces and vehicles on the spot to support people to overcome the consequences. In which, priority is given to repairing and reinforcing houses with blown roofs and damaged houses; arranging temporary accommodation for people during the damage recovery period.
Localities also organize site clearance, restore agricultural production, ensure environmental sanitation, traffic safety and irrigation works safety. Dangerous areas with risk of landslides or damaged bridges must be promptly warned so that people can proactively prevent them.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested to urgently inspect, review, and fully and accurately statistically assess the damage situation; immediately implement current policies to support people to soon stabilize their lives.
Localities proactively use local resources to handle and overcome damage within their capacity. In case it exceeds the balanced capacity, it is necessary to promptly report to competent authorities for consideration and support according to regulations.
In addition, localities must closely monitor weather developments, update forecast bulletins to proactively deploy measures to respond to natural disaster situations that may continue to occur.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Construction, the Department of Finance and the Provincial Hydrometeorological Station are assigned to promptly implement disaster recovery measures according to their functions and tasks; and closely monitor weather developments to provide early information and warnings to localities.
