At Du - Dong Dat Martyrs' Cemetery (Phu Luong commune), the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of Thai Nguyen province organized a ceremony to offer incense in gratitude to heroic martyrs, and at the same time deployed to take samples of martyrs' remains that have not been identified for DNA testing, according to the Thai Nguyen Provincial e-Portal on July 8.
This time, the Steering Committee is taking samples for 50 martyrs' graves that have not been identified at two cemeteries in Phu Luong commune, including 23 graves at Du - Dong Dat Martyrs' Cemetery and 27 graves at Phan Me Martyrs' Cemetery. Sampling work started on July 7 and strives to complete within 5 days.
Along with taking samples, the forces synchronously carry out the preparation and digitization of dossiers for each tomb; preserve and hand over samples of remains to the appraisal unit according to regulations, and at the same time restore the original state of the tomb after taking samples.
To ensure the correct implementation process, the Steering Committee established 2 teams to take samples of martyrs' remains and 2 teams to excavate and restore graves with the participation of military forces, military medicine and specialized departments. The teams have the task of excavating, taking samples, encoding, digitizing data, managing records and transporting samples for testing.
In addition, Phu Luong commune established security, propaganda, logistics and service teams to create favorable conditions for the sampling process to take place safely, solemnly, and in accordance with rituals.
Immediately after the incense offering ceremony, working groups deploy sample collection at the graves according to technical procedures, ensuring strictness, accuracy, safety and expressing respect for the heroic martyrs.
The above activities are part of the 500-day and night Campaign to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains, contributing to bringing unidentified martyrs back to their names and hometowns, meeting the aspirations of their relatives and continuing to spread the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude" of the nation.
