Faced with the increasingly complex developments of high-tech crime with many sophisticated fraud tricks, Dak Po commune police (Gia Lai) have implemented many solutions to propagate and mobilize people, especially ethnic minorities, to raise vigilance and proactively prevent.
As a mountainous area with a large number of ethnic minorities living, the level of awareness is not uniform, Dak Po commune police have organized 7 propaganda sessions at village cultural houses with more than 521 household representatives participating; and at the same time directly went to 11 households in sparsely populated residential areas to propagate to over 50 people.
At propaganda sessions, the police force disseminated many common methods and tricks of fraud such as impersonating police agencies, procuracies, and courts to request personal information, account numbers or money transfers; impersonating relatives on Facebook and Zalo to borrow money; enticing high-profit financial investment; fraud through online loan applications; buying and selling goods online but not delivering goods; text messages and phone calls announcing winnings to appropriate assets.
Through simulated situations, visual illustrations and a close and easy-to-understand way of communicating, people are guided on personal information security skills, safe use of social networks, identification of signs of fraud and proactively reporting to the government and commune police when detecting suspicious cases.
In addition, Dak Po commune police coordinated with departments, branches, unions, village elders and prestigious people among ethnic minorities to participate in propaganda, contributing to improving the effectiveness of mass mobilization work and building "shields from the grassroots level" in preventing and combating high-tech crime.
Thanks to promoting practical propaganda, people's awareness of information security and online scams has gradually been raised. People have formed the habit of verifying information before sharing or transferring money, proactively warning each other in the community and coordinating with the police force when detecting unusual signs.
In the coming time, Dak Po commune police will continue to innovate the content and forms of propaganda suitable for each target group and each area, contributing to building a solid people's security posture, protecting a peaceful life for ethnic minority people in ethnic minority areas.
