Ca Mau - The program attracted the participation of more than 200 cadres, union members, association members and fishermen in the area.

On August 28, Squadron 42, Coast Guard Region 4 Command coordinated with the Party Committee and People's Committee of Tan An Commune, Ca Mau Province to organize propaganda on the law on combating illegal, unreported, unregulated (IUU) fishing and drug crime prevention and control for officers, people and fishermen in the area.

At the propaganda session, the Propaganda Team of Squadron 42 focused on disseminating basic contents of Vietnamese law and recommendations of the European Commission (EC) related to removing the IUU "yellow card"; clarifying prohibited acts such as illegal fishing in foreign waters, removing or turning off journey monitoring equipment, transporting illegal border crossing people... and instructing fishermen to record fishing logs, carry out procedures for notification and confirmation of aquatic product origin at fishing ports. Thereby, helping fishermen raise their awareness of law compliance, join hands to develop sustainable fisheries, and protect the reputation of Vietnamese seafood in the international market.

The propaganda team also focused on disseminating the situation and methods of drug crimes in the area, especially at sea routes, providing knowledge about the harmful effects, identification methods, skills to prevent and denounce acts of illegal drug trafficking, transportation and storage. With a familiar presentation method, taking examples close to the lives of the people, combined with presentations with images, distributing leaflets, and propaganda documents, helping people understand, remember easily and raise awareness of protecting themselves and their families from the dangers of drugs.

Many fishermen directly asked and discussed with the Propaganda Team about actual situations during the fishing process, as well as how to coordinate with the authorities when detecting crimes or violations of the law at sea.

This propaganda activity continues to affirm the companionship and close attachment of the Vietnam Coast Guard to the people, contributing to building a people's security posture and a solid national defense posture in the southwestern sea and islands of the Fatherland.
