On May 31st, Tam Thai Commune Police, Nghe An province, said that the unit had just received a mountain turtle individual voluntarily handed over by people in the area.
Previously, Mr. Kha Van Huy (residing in Lung village, Tam Thai commune) discovered a turtle individual. Realizing that this could be a rare wild animal, Mr. Huy proactively contacted and handed it over to Tam Thai Commune Police.
Through initial identification, the turtle individual above is a border mountain turtle, scientific name Manouria impressa. This is a species belonging to Group IIB, listed as endangered, precious, and rare forest animals, protected by law.
After receiving it, Tam Thai Commune Police completed the procedures according to regulations, and at the same time handed over the turtle to the forest management and protection unit of Pu Mat National Park for care, monitoring and release back to the natural environment.
Functional agencies recommend that people not hunt, raise, raise, trade, or illegally transport wild animals. When detecting rare and precious wild animals or related violations, people need to promptly notify functional agencies to be received and handled according to regulations.
