When put into operation, Bao Lac Health Center will serve health care for more than 80,000 people in the area and neighboring communes, of which over 80% are poor and near-poor households, mainly people of the Mong, Dao, San Chi, Lo Lo ethnic groups.

Ms. Lo Hai Yen (Khanh Xuan commune) said that for many years, people in Bao Lac and Bao Lam (old) districts have had a lot of hardship in accessing medical services. “To get medical examination and treatment, people often have to go to Ha Giang province or down to the city. There are cases of broken arms, but they also have to travel hundreds of kilometers to be treated,” Ms. Yen shared.

According to Ms. Yen, the Ministry of National Defense's investment in building a medical center in the locality makes people extremely excited and expect the project to be completed soon.

Everyone hopes the medical center will be completed quickly. Looking at the scenery, the project is even more spacious and modern than the General Hospital of Cao Bang province today," Ms. Yen said.

The project is expected to contribute to improving grassroots health capacity, strengthening disease prevention and control, emergency, treatment, and attracting medical staff to work in border areas.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Minister of National Defense - emphasized that this is a project of practical significance, towards the 85th anniversary of Uncle Ho's return to the country to lead the Vietnamese revolution and to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party.
