On April 8, at Tinh Hoi Pagoda (Tran Bien ward), the solemn session of the 1st Dong Nai Provincial Buddhist Congress, term 2026–2031, officially opened in a solemn, harmonious and united atmosphere.
The Congress unanimously elected the Executive Committee for the first term consisting of 105 members, of which the Standing Committee has 35 members. The Congress was honored to welcome the supreme proof of elder Venerable Thich Thien Nhon - Deputy Dharma Master of the Patronage Council, Chairman of the Executive Council; along with venerable dignitaries of the Central Church. Attending were representatives of Party, State, and government leaders at all levels in Dong Nai province and more than 900 delegates of monks, nuns, and Buddhists.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Venerable Thich Hue Khai - Member of the Executive Council, Head of the Executive Board emphasized that the 1st Congress is a particularly historical event, taking place in the context that the province has just completed a new administrative organization model.
This is a milestone affirming the solid maturity of Dong Nai Buddhism after 45 years of accompanying the nation, showing the determination to inherit tradition, promote the spirit of entering the world, contributing to building a solid foundation of morality, culture and social security for the community.
The Venerable also affirmed that the recent achievements are the foundation to enter the new term with the vision of "Discipline - innovation - effectiveness - efficiency".
This Congress carries the responsibility of comprehensively assessing Buddhist affairs of the previous term, planning development directions suitable to the requirements of the times, and spreading the light of compassion into life.
At the program, Venerable Thich Thien Tri, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, approved the summary report on the results of the first working day and the 45th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. At the same time, the Congress awarded Certificates of Merit from the Central Sangha to 25 individuals and Certificates of Merit from the People's Committee of Dong Nai province to individuals with positive contributions.
As a result, the new Buddhist Executive Board of Dong Nai province term I (2026–2031) was officially launched and spoke to receive the task. On this occasion, the elder Venerable Chairman and venerable leaders of the Central Sangha presented gold incense to the new term Executive Board.
In order to promote the tradition of compassion, the Management Board also organized the presentation of a symbolic plaque supporting 300 million VND to the "For the Poor" Fund of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai province.
