On the morning of February 24, at Thuy Tien Lake Park, Hue City People's Committee organized the launching ceremony of "Tet tree planting forever remembering Uncle Ho" Binh Ngo Spring 2026, to celebrate the 67th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh initiating the tree planting movement.
Attending the ceremony were leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City, representatives of departments, agencies, branches, armed forces and a large number of officials and people.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, leaders of the City People's Committee emphasized that Tet tree planting is not only traditional but also a specific action to promote the goal of green economic development and sustainable growth. In the context of Hue orienting itself to become a heritage, cultural, ecological and environmentally friendly city, planting trees and developing forests is considered an important solution to protect the ecosystem, adapt to climate change and expand growth potential.

In 2025, the city's forest management, protection and development achieved many positive results. Forest cover is maintained at 57.18%; the whole area planted more than 6,500ha of forest, about 1 million scattered green trees; 18 million seedlings were sown to serve forest planting. The output of exploited timber is estimated at 600,000m3. Currently, Hue has over 14,000ha of large timber forests and over 15,000ha of forests certified for sustainable management.
According to city leaders, planting trees at Thuy Tien Lake Park not only supplements urban green space but also gradually forms an ecological space, creating tourism and entertainment highlights, contributing to transforming natural potential into specific economic values.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates, officials, soldiers and people participated in planting trees in the park grounds, opening the 2026 tree planting and afforestation movement throughout the city.
