Supporting 5 border and deep-lying communes in Cao Bang to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses

Cao Bang - Provincial Party Secretary Phan Thang An has just awarded funds and supported the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses in many difficult communes.

On May 29, information from the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee, on May 27 and 28, Mr. Phan Thang An - Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and the provincial working delegation visited, worked and presented funds to support the poor, eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in many remote and isolated communes in the province.

In the localities visited including Xuan Truong, Khanh Xuan, Bao Lac, Co Ba, Coc Pang, Ly Bon, Nam Quang and Bao Lam, the working delegation directly handed over funds to support the "For the Poor" Fund and support the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households.

According to reports from localities, the number of poor and near-poor households and temporary and dilapidated houses is still large.

Xuan Truong commune alone currently has 387 poor and near-poor households; through review, 115 households are eligible for support to build new and repair houses. Khanh Xuan commune has 82 households with temporary and dilapidated houses with a total support need of more than 5.8 billion VND.

Meanwhile, Bao Lac commune has up to 146 temporary houses that need repair, striving to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in 2027.

In Co Ba commune, through review, there are 181 temporary and dilapidated households, with a total support fund needs of more than 14 billion VND.

Coc Pang commune has a poverty and near-poverty rate of over 57%, and people's lives are still difficult. Ly Bon, Nam Quang and Bao Lam communes also recorded a large number of households in need of housing support, of which Bao Lam commune has more than 1,800 poor and near-poor households, accounting for over 64% of the population.

During this working trip, the delegation donated tens of billions of VND to support localities in implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

Specifically, supporting Xuan Truong commune 80 million VND; Khanh Xuan 480 million VND; Bao Lac 1.6 billion VND; Co Ba 2.32 billion VND; Coc Pang 1.2 billion VND; Ly Bon 1.28 billion VND; Nam Quang 480 million VND and Bao Lam 3.44 billion VND.

At the same time, each commune is additionally supported with 50 million VND for the "For the Poor" Fund.

Speaking in localities, Provincial Party Secretary Phan Thang An acknowledged and praised the proactiveness and decisiveness of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations in implementing poverty reduction work, supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for people.

He proposed that localities continue to diversify resources, promote socialization, mobilize the participation of businesses, organizations and people; and at the same time ensure publicity, transparency, and the right beneficiaries in the support implementation process.

In addition to housing support, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized the requirement to synchronously implement social security policies, create sustainable livelihoods for people through production development, crop and livestock structure conversion, application of science and technology and local economic development.

In particular, highland communes need to focus on developing clean agriculture, high-tech agriculture, planting medicinal plants under the forest canopy associated with protecting forest resources and developing ecotourism and experiential tourism, contributing to increasing people's income.

He also requested localities to continue to maintain national defense and security, strengthen land and mineral resource management, and promote digital transformation in administrative management and socio-economic development.
