On October 22 and 23, in the border commune of Quang Truc (Lam Dong), Regiment 726 (Army Corps 16) coordinated with Dien Thong Agricultural Joint Stock Company to organize training and technical guidance on preventing and handling pests and diseases, caring for coffee and macadamia gardens.
Accordingly, in the training course, 240 workers and contracted households of the Regiment's 5 production teams were instructed by technical staff of Dien Thong Agricultural Joint Stock Company and Regiment 726 on basic coffee tree care techniques (trees under 2 years old) and commercial coffee trees; common diseases on coffee trees and prevention measures.
Also at the training class, households were instructed on planting techniques, care, and nutrition; common diseases and how to prevent pests and diseases for macadamia trees.
At the same time, participating households also shared lessons learned from practice and discussed related issues together to propose effective solutions to develop coffee and macadamia trees in the area.
Mr. Vuong Duc Nhat, Head of the Central Highlands region (Dien Thong Agricultural Joint Stock Company) said that many households have had experience growing trees for many years, but still lack updated knowledge about modern care processes, especially during the period of climate change and high material prices.
Therefore, through this program, the company's agricultural engineer team and officers of Regiment 726 directly instruct people on reasonable pruning and fertilization techniques, disease prevention as well as water-saving irrigation methods.
"For macadamia trees, a new type of tree but has high economic value. Therefore, we focus on sharing the process of selecting seeds, grafting trees, caring for basic feeding and harvesting stages. We hope that after the training, people can effectively apply the knowledge they have learned, thereby promoting productivity increase, quality and sustainable profit increase in the production of long-term industrial crops, economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, Mr. Vuong Duc Nhat emphasized.
Immediately after the technical training, households visited and learned from the garden model of Doan Thi Thao household (received the contract of Production Team 3) and Nguyen Thi Luyen household (P Production Team 5).
On this occasion, Regiment 726 organized a propaganda campaign for people to strictly comply with the Party's guidelines and policies; State policies and laws; local regulations; clean up, prevent epidemics, and do a good job of environmental protection.
