On June 10, the Standing Committee of the Executive Board (BTS) of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (GHPGVN) of An Giang province held a regular meeting in June 2026 to review and implement the contents prepared for the 1st An Giang Provincial Buddhist Congress, term 2026-2031. The meeting was chaired by Venerable Thich Thien Thong - Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the BTS GHPGVN of An Giang province, with the participation of Venerable Monks of the Standing Committee and representatives of functional agencies of the province.

At the meeting, Venerable Thich Minh Nhan - Standing Deputy Head of the BTS GHPGVN of An Giang province gave a general report on the preparation for the Congress. Sub-committees also reported on the progress of implementing related items such as hall decoration, logistics, accommodation, cuisine and conditions serving the Congress.

In addition, the Standing Committee of the BTS GHPGVN of the province discussed and contributed opinions to complete the draft report summarizing Buddhist affairs work for the 2022-2027 term (period 2022-2026) and the draft program of Buddhist affairs activities for the 2026-2031 term.

According to the plan, the 1st An Giang Provincial Buddhist Congress, term 2026-2031 will take place on June 18 and 19, 2026 at the An Giang Provincial Culture and Arts Center, Rach Gia ward. It is expected that about 700 delegates and guests will attend.

Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, Venerable Thich Thien Thong acknowledged the sense of responsibility of the members in the preparation of the Congress, and at the same time requested the sub-committees to continue to urgently complete the remaining tasks, ensuring that the Congress is organized solemnly, on schedule and achieves good results.

On the same day, the Standing Committee of the BTS GHPGVN of the province conducted a field survey at the An Giang Provincial Culture and Arts Center, where the Congress took place. The delegation inspected the conditions of facilities, stages, sound, lighting, reception area for delegates and items serving the event.

According to the plan, the 1st An Giang Provincial Buddhist Congress, term 2026-2031, will officially take place on June 18 and 19, 2026 at the An Giang Provincial Culture and Arts Center, Rach Gia ward. This is an important event, marking a new step in the development of Buddhism in the province after the process of consolidating the organization, towards promoting the tradition of solidarity, harmony and serving the Dharma and the nation.
