On June 18, on the eve of the 1st Congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (GHPGVN) of An Giang province, term 2026-2031, the Executive Committee of the GHPGVN of An Giang province and the Congress Organizing Committee organized an incense offering ceremony to commemorate predecessors, heroic martyrs and meritorious predecessors, expressing the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source" and the tradition of gratitude of Vietnamese Buddhism.
The delegation was headed by Venerable Thich Thien Thong - Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the Executive Board of the VBS of An Giang province.

Also attending were Venerable Thich Minh Nhan - Member of the Secretariat of the Executive Council, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of Office 2 of the Central GHPGVN, Standing Deputy Head of the Executive Board of the GHPGVN of An Giang province and dignitaries in the Standing Board of the Executive Board.
Opening the program, the delegation visited the Office of the Executive Board of VBS of An Giang province at Tam Bao Pagoda (Rach Gia ward) to respectfully offer incense, pay respects to the Patriarchs, and commemorate the predecessors who contributed to propagating the Dharma, building and developing Buddhism in their homeland.

Next, the delegation went to the Temple of Remembrance for Heroic Martyrs and People with Meritorious Services of Kien Giang (Rach Gia ward) to offer incense and flowers, and observe a minute of silence to commemorate the heroic martyrs who bravely sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the cause of national reunification and construction.
In the program, the delegation also visited Cu La Tower (Chau Thanh commune) to offer incense to commemorate the Four Most Venerable Martyrs. The activity has a profound meaning of gratitude to the monks who dedicated their lives to the Dharma and the nation, contributing to embellishing the tradition of patriotism and the spirit of protecting the nation and people of Vietnamese Buddhism.

The series of incense offering and commemoration activities is one of the meaningful events towards the 1st Congress of the VBS of An Giang province, term 2026-2031. Not only expressing gratitude to heroic martyrs and meritorious predecessors, the program also contributes to educating patriotic traditions, consolidating the great national unity bloc and spreading the spirit of integration into the world, accompanying the nation of Vietnamese Buddhism.

Through this activity, the Executive Board of GHPGVN An Giang province continues to ignite the spirit of responsibility of monks, nuns, and Buddhists in the cause of serving the Dharma, serving the Fatherland and serving the people, creating a spirit of solidarity and solemnity towards the success of the 1st Congress of GHPGVN An Giang province.
As Lao Dong newspaper has reported, the 1st Congress of the VBS of An Giang province, term 2026-2031, took place on June 18-19 with the participation of 700 delegates who are dignitaries of the Patronage Council, the Executive Council of the Central VBS; representatives of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Security Department, leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province, along with a large number of monks, nuns, abbots of pagodas and typical Buddhists.
