Recently, Nun Thich Nu Phuoc Duyen, Deputy Abbot of Linh Quang Zen Monastery (Tam Thang ward, Ho Chi Minh City), coordinated with monks, nuns, and Buddhists to organize a program to give gifts to support Khmer ethnic people in Cau Ke commune (Vinh Long province). This activity aims to share part of the burden of making a living, helping people in remote and isolated areas have more motivation to rise up in life.
At Van Hoa Pagoda (Vinh Long province), the charity delegation directly visited and presented 200 gifts to households in particularly difficult circumstances. Each gift included cash and practical necessities such as rice, instant noodles, confectionery and other household goods. The total cost of implementing this program is more than 100 million VND.
Speaking at the ceremony, Venerable Thich Trung Tu, Abbot of Hoa Son Pagoda (Vung Tau ward, representative of the delegation), sent sincere encouragement to the people. Venerable Thich Trung Tu wished the families good health, and at the same time wished that these small gifts but containing great feelings would help people soon stabilize their lives and overcome current adversities.
Charity activities in Cau Ke commune not only show the compassionate spirit of Buddhism but also are proof of the bond and sharing between the community and Khmer ethnic people. The radiant smiles of people when receiving meaningful gifts have added faith in solidarity and compassion in society.
