From May 29 to June 1, at Phuong Dong Secondary School, Tra Lien commune, Da Nang Museum in coordination with Tra Lien Commune People's Committee and Da Nang Library organized a thematic exhibition "Co people's cultural space - Living heritage in the great forest".
The program aims to preserve, spread and promote the unique traditional cultural values of Co people - ethnic minority communities long-established in the northwestern mountainous region of Quang Ngai and the South - Southwest area of Da Nang city.

In Da Nang, Co people mainly live in Tra Lien commune and some neighboring communes such as Thanh Binh, Duc Phu, Tra Giap, Tam My. In Tra Lien commune alone, the Co people account for more than 49% of the population, concentrated in Tac Kot, Tac Ngui, Tac Nu and Lang Gach villages.
Attached to the mountains and forests through many generations, the Co people have formed a cultural space rich in identity, reflecting the harmonious relationship between humans and nature. Community life is associated with upland production, rice and corn cultivation, and forest exploitation.
That cultural space is recognized through brilliant festival costumes, gong and chieng art, instruments, flutes, graceful k'dau dance, strong pair gong fights and many unique folk rituals such as rain praying ceremony, restoration of the Neu tree.
According to the Organizing Committee, this thematic exhibition not only introduces the characteristics in the cultural life of the Co people, but also contributes to bringing heritage closer to students, local people and tourists.
The activity is also part of the implementation of Action Program No. 54-CTr/TU dated March 12, 2026 of the Da Nang City Party Committee on implementing Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing Vietnamese culture.
The cultural values of the Co people not only create a unique identity for the Da Nang mountainous community, but also contribute to enriching the cultural picture of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups.
