The famous Nguyen Cong Tru was from Uy Vien village, now Xuan Giang commune, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province. His mother was Nguyen Thi Phan, daughter of the mandarin Canh Nhac Ba under the reign of King Le - Lord Trinh.
Uy Vien General Nguyen Cong Tru died on November 14, Mau Ngo year (December 7, 1858), at the age of 80, in his hometown of Uy Vien village, Nghi Xuan district.
During nearly 30 years as an official, Nguyen Cong Tru left a deep mark in many fields of politics, military, economy, culture and art.
