Accordingly, the My Tho noodle contest is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 345th anniversary of My Tho city, welcome the new year 2025, and promote and develop tourism in My Tho city.
In addition, the celebration also has many other activities such as the "Historical Singing" contest; orchid contest and display; book fair; My Tho city's expanded martial arts festival; exchange performances of traditional music, reformed opera excerpts; acoustic music; singing together; contest to display and decorate My Tho miniature landscapes past and present; children's fashion show... Especially in the series of activities to promote the "My Tho noodle soup" brand combined with walking street activities.
Ms. Phuong said that about 18 - 20 famous hu tieu restaurants in My Tho city were selected for scoring. Based on the criteria for evaluating My Tho hu tieu, chefs from the Vietnam Chefs Association (Vietnam Tourism Association) will score hu tieu restaurants in My Tho city, Tien Giang province from today (December 20), and will announce next week. The highly rated, quality hu tieu restaurants will be honored at the 345th anniversary of My Tho city.
According to Vice Chairwoman of My Tho City People's Committee Le Thi Be Phuong, the purpose of the contest is to promote and honor the "My Tho noodle soup" brand as a typical delicacy of the city, honoring the noodle soup making village which is a traditional profession in My Tho City (Tien Giang province).
In addition, through this scoring of hu tieu shops, the local government also wants to build the My Tho hu tieu brand as a unique culinary culture feature, contributing to the formation of local tourism products. At the same time, step by step, periodic activities are established to maintain the form and quality of the shops and businesses that have been recognized and honored.
