Located at the intersection of Huynh Thuc Khang - Nguyen Hong, Pho Nho is a famous address for foodies who love Hanoi pho. The restaurant has been open for more than 20 years and won second prize in the Hanoi Pho Competition.
Ms. Nguyen Bich Thuy, the owner, said: “This pho restaurant was opened by my parents. Since ancient times, the restaurant has been crowded with customers, even having to wait in line. After taking over the restaurant, I still try to preserve and make it according to the old pho flavor that my parents left behind.”
Ms. Thuy also added that the broth is the most important part of a bowl of pho. If the broth is fragrant and rich, the pho will be delicious.
“Every day, the restaurant uses about 40kg of marrow bones, simmering all day on the stove to serve pho broth to customers. In addition to the usual cardamom, the broth also has sea worms and dried squid, making the pho broth sweeter and more aromatic,” said Ms. Thuy.
A bowl of pho impresses with its full portion of pho and meat. Fresh rare beef is immersed in a sweet broth made from beef bones, simmered carefully and eaten with soft pho noodles. All create an attractive flavor, attracting customers. On average, the restaurant sells about 400 - 500 bowls per day.
Interestingly, in addition to pho, customers are served cold rice for free. This dish reminds many people of the difficult years of Hanoi, when pho was a luxury breakfast. It is this simple combination that touches the memories of many diners.
Ms. Nguyen Yen Nhi (Dong Da, Hanoi), a regular customer of the restaurant, shared: “As the name of the restaurant suggests, I ate here once and then followed the restaurant until now. I was impressed with the pho here because the broth was sweet and fragrant, the beef was marinated just right, and it was also very tender.”
Mr. Pham Minh Hoang (Cau Giay, Hanoi) - another diner, said: "The pho noodles are soft, the broth is fragrant with the rich taste of bones, and the beef here is always fresh. Although I don't eat pho every day, whenever I crave it, I come here."
In addition to traditional pho, the restaurant also serves fried rice, fried noodles, and fried pho. Prices range from 45,000 - 100,000 VND/bowl.
