Banh ep is one of the specialties of the ancient capital that many people love. If you have not had the opportunity to visit Hue, you can go to Tam Ty Quan (Dong Da, Hanoi) to enjoy the authentic Banh ep dish.
Ms. Trinh Thi Loan (Dong Da, Hanoi) - owner of the banh ep shop, said: "During a trip to Hue with my family, I had the opportunity to enjoy banh ep, a delicious specialty of this land. Therefore, I came up with the idea of opening a banh ep shop right in Hanoi so that everyone can eat and experience this unique flavor without having to go far."
To make a delicious pressed cake, you need basic ingredients such as tapioca flour, pork, eggs, green onions... The dough is rolled into small balls and placed between two hot cast iron plates that have been oiled, adding the filling. Then, press firmly for a few seconds and you have a hot banh ep.
When eating, depending on preference, diners will add some Vietnamese coriander, sweet and sour papaya salad, cucumber. Then, roll the cake and dip it in a bowl of sweet and sour fish sauce.
According to the owner, the way to make banh ep is still the same as the original Hue recipe. Besides the traditional egg banh ep and Meat Banh Press, the restaurant also adds some other types such as Shrimp and Meat Banh Press, Pate banh ep and Seafood Banh Press to bring a more diverse experience to customers.
Ms. Loan shared that the shop sells about 200-300 banh ep every day, and up to 500 on weekends. Of these, seafood banh ep are the most popular dish.
Ms. Ha Thi Phuong Oanh (Tay Ho, Hanoi), a regular customer of the restaurant, shared: "I have known about Hue banh ep for a long time but have not had the opportunity to enjoy it. After visiting the restaurant, I tried it and gradually became a regular customer. The cake crust here is chewy, the flavor is unique, different from the others that I have eaten before."
Mr. Han Ngoc Thinh (Dong Da, Hanoi) - another diner, said: "I have come to the restaurant many times, at first just out of curiosity to try Hue pressed cake. After eating, I found it strange and delicious so I often visit the restaurant on weekends."
