According to storm news, the latest low pressure from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), a low pressure is advancing into the East Sea.
As of 8 am on August 4 (local time), the center of the low pressure was located at about 16.9 degrees North latitude - 118.7 degrees East longitude, about 180 km west of Bacnotan, La Union, Philippines.
The strongest wind near the center of the low pressure reached 35 km/h. PAGASA forecasts that the low pressure has a moderate possibility of strengthening into a tropical depression or storm in the next 24 hours.
If it develops into a storm, this will be storm number 3 making landfall in the East Sea in this year's storm season.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, early this morning August 4, the Gulf of Tonkin area, the eastern sea area of the North and Central East Sea will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Forecast for the day and night of August 4, the Gulf of Tonkin, the North and Central East Sea areas (including the Hoang Sa special zone sea area) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. In thunderstorms, there is a high possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind at level 7-8, sea waves over 2.0m high.
All ships operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes, strong gusts of wind and high sea waves.
