According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the evening of August 4, a tropical depression is strengthening over the sea area southeast of the Northern East Sea.
At 7:00 PM on August 4th, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 17.4 degrees North latitude - 118.4 degrees East longitude, over the sea southeast of the Northern East Sea area. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 7 (50-61km/h), gusting to level 9. The tropical depression is moving in a West direction at a speed of about 15km/h.
It is forecasted that by 7:00 PM on August 5th, the tropical depression will change direction and move in a Southeast-east direction at a speed of 5-10km/h, entering the coastal area northwest of Luzon Island (Philippines). The system is likely to strengthen into a storm, intensity level 8, gusts level 10.
By 7:00 PM on August 6th, the storm will move in an East direction at a speed of 5-10km/h, in the area north of Luzon Island and gradually weaken into a tropical depression with winds of level 6, gusts of level 8.
By 7:00 PM on August 7, the tropical depression will continue to move in the East-Northeast direction at a speed of 5-10km/h, out to the sea area northeast of Luzon Island and weaken into a low pressure area.
In the next 24-48 hours, the dangerous area at sea is determined from 16.0-18.5 degrees North latitude, east of longitude 117.0-118.5 degrees East longitude. The level of natural disaster risk due to strong winds at sea is level 3, applicable to the southeastern sea area of the Northern East Sea.
Due to the influence of the tropical depression, the sea area southeast of the Northern East Sea area has strong winds at level 6-7, gusting at level 9; then increasing to level 8, gusting at level 10. Sea waves are 2-4m high, strong sea waves.
Because it is still quite far away, the meteorological agency believes that the tropical depression has not affected the coastal and mainland areas of Vietnam.
However, ships operating in dangerous areas need to pay special attention to the risk of thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds and large waves.
People and tourists planning to go to sea during this time should monitor weather developments. Follow local instructions and avoid going to sea when the sea is rough to ensure safety.
