Storm No. 6 Nongfa is more than 150km from the Central region, accelerating to make landfall

Storm No. 6 (international name Nongfa), approaching the Central region, caused widespread heavy thunderstorms.

According to the latest storm news from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 a.m. on August 30, the center of the storm was at about 17.7°N - 108.0°E, in the Ha Tinh - Thua Thien Hue sea area, about 210km east of North Quang Tri.

The strongest wind near the storm center is level 8 (6274km/h), gusting to level 10. The storm is moving in a West-Northwest direction, at a speed of about 20km/h.

According to the latest forecast from the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), Typhoon Nongfa is located about 167 km north of Da Nang, moving west at a speed of 20 km/h in the past 6 hours.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting forecasts that by 7:00 p.m. on August 30: Storm No. 6 will move in the West Northwest direction, at a speed of about 20km/h, making landfall in Ha Tinh - North Quang Tri provinces and gradually weakening into a tropical depression. The center of the storm is located at about 18.0°N - 106.1°E, on land from Ha Tinh to North Quang Tri. Strong wind level 7, gust level 9.

The danger zone is from latitude 14.5°N to 20.0°N, west of longitude 111.5°E. Natural disaster risk level: level 3 (the western sea area of the North East Sea, the sea area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, including Hon Ngu island, Con Co).

Forecast until 7:00 a.m. on August 31: Storm No. 6 continues to move in the West Northwest direction, at a speed of about 20km/h, moving deep into the mainland and weakening into a low pressure area. Location is at about 18.2°N - 104.3°E, in the Central Laos region. Wind intensity below level 6.

The danger zone is from latitude 16.0°N to 20.0°N, west of longitude 110.0°E. Natural disaster risk level: level 3 (the sea area from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue, including Hon Ngu island, Con Co).

Areas heavily affected by storm No. 6

The Northwest of the East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago) has strong winds of level 67; waves 2.04.5m high; rough seas.

The sea area from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue (including Hon Ngu, Con Co) will have storms: strong winds of level 67, near the center of the storm level 8, gusts of level 10; waves 2.04.0m high, near the center of the storm 3.05.0m; rough seas.

Nghe An - Thua Thien Hue coastal area has water rising 0.20.4m.

The weather at sea and coastal areas is very dangerous and unsafe for ships, cages, aquaculture areas, tourist boats, passenger ships and works at sea.

On land from noon on August 30, the coastal wind of Nghe An - Quang Tri will gradually increase to level 6, gusting to level 8.

In particular, the mainland along the coast of Ha Tinh - Bac Quang Tri has strong winds of level 67, near the storm center level 8, gusting to level 10.

Strong thunderstorms and tornadoes may appear before the storm/tropical depression directly affects.

It is forecasted that from August 30 to the end of August 31, the Thanh Hoa - Thua Thien Hue area will have heavy to very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 150300mm, some places over 500mm.

During the same period, the midlands, Northern Delta and Da Nang City will have moderate rain, heavy rain, some places with very heavy rain, rainfall of 70150mm, some places over 300mm.

Note

Tourists in coastal provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri should limit going out during the storm, especially avoiding areas near the sea, river mouths, streams and low-lying areas.

Do not participate in sightseeing, sea, river and lake activities or outdoor tours during storms.
