According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather today July 2nd, a tropical depression is strengthening over the East Sea.
It is forecasted that by 1:00 PM this afternoon, the low pressure will move to the southern sea area of the Northern East Sea, about 290km east-southeast of the Hoang Sa special zone. The tropical depression is likely to strengthen into a storm. At that time, the strongest wind near the storm center will reach level 8, gusting to level 10.
If it strengthens into a storm, this will be the first storm to make landfall in the East Sea region in the 2026 storm season.
The Northern East Sea area (including the Hoang Sa special zone) and the northern sea area of the Central East Sea area have strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 9, sea waves 2.0-3.0m high, strong rough seas. The area near the storm center passing through has strong winds of level 8-9, gusts of level 11-12, sea waves 3.0-5.0m high, very strong rough seas.
On land, the forecast for the Northern region is cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially in mountainous and midland areas, there are places with moderate rain, heavy rain to very heavy rain, the highest temperature is commonly 30-33 degrees C.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Hue and the South Central Coast will be sunny during the day, with hot sun in some places with the highest temperature of 32-35 degrees C, showers and scattered thunderstorms in the evening and at night.
The Central Highlands and Southern regions will have showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially in the late afternoon and evening with moderate to heavy rain locally; the highest temperature is commonly 27-34 degrees Celsius. In thunderstorms across the country, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
