Weekend weather forecast: Northern region welcomes hot sunshine again

Weather forecast for the weekend of August 8-9. 8 will change as hot weather begins to increase in the North, Central and Central Highlands still have showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening.

According to forecasts, from August 9, the Northeast region is likely to experience a widespread hot spell, with the highest temperature commonly 35-37 degrees Celsius, locally above 37 degrees Celsius.

By August 10, hot weather is likely to expand to the Northwest, the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang City and the East of Quang Ngai province. The highest temperature is commonly 35-36 degrees Celsius, locally above 36 degrees Celsius.

For tourists visiting Northern destinations, especially outdoor activities, mountain climbing or long-distance travel, they should limit going out during hot sunny times, replenish enough water and use sun protection measures.

Many areas still have thunderstorms

Before the heat increases, in the late afternoon and night of August 7, the Northwest region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with common rainfall of 10-25mm, locally over 50mm.

The area from Thanh Hoa to northern Quang Tri has rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, common rainfall of 20-40mm, locally over 90mm.

Meanwhile, in the late afternoon and evening of August 7, the Central Highlands area will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with common rainfall of 15-30mm, locally over 60mm.

During thunderstorms, visitors need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain can also cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.

What should tourists note?

For weekend trips, tourists should check the weather forecast before departure, limit trekking, camping or participating in outdoor activities in high mountainous areas when there is a thunderstorm warning.

When hot weather appears, priority should be given to visiting in the early morning or late afternoon, avoid being outdoors during hot sunny hours and proactively replenish water to limit the risk of dehydration, exhaustion and heat shock.

In addition, prolonged hot weather may increase electricity demand, posing a risk of fire and explosion in residential areas.
