With the weather in the Northwest today with light heat during the day but scattered thunderstorms in the late afternoon and night, tourists should pay attention to some of the following things to make the trip safer and more convenient:
- Priority should be given to sightseeing, trekking or moving in the morning and early afternoon, because in the late afternoon and evening it is easy to experience thunderstorms, slippery roads and fog in mountain passes.
- Bring lightweight raincoats, anti-slip shoes and waterproof bags for phones and cameras. Rain in the Northwest usually comes quickly and locally.
- If traveling by motorbike or car through passes such as O Quy Ho, Khau Pha, Pha Din..., it is necessary to check the brakes, tires and limit driving at night when it rains.
Do not camp near streams, taluys or areas at risk of landslides, especially after heavy rains.
- During thunderstorms, avoid standing in an empty place, near tall trees or power poles due to the risk of lightning and strong gusts of wind.
- The temperature fluctuates around 23-34 degrees Celsius, so it is quite hot during the day, but in the early morning and late at night in the high mountains, it may be chilly. Visitors should prepare both cool clothes and thin jackets.
- For those who hunt clouds or admire terraced fields in places like Sa Pa, Mu Cang Chai or Ta Xua, they should monitor and update the weather close to the departure time to avoid heavy rain that limits visibility.
