The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting updates the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (May 16) in regions across the country.
From the evening of May 16 to May 17, the Northeast region and Thanh Hoa experienced scattered showers and thunderstorms, with common rainfall from 15-30mm, locally over 70mm.
In the late afternoon and night of May 16, the Central Highlands area will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, rainfall fluctuating from 15-35mm, with heavy rain exceeding 80mm in some places. Meanwhile, the South Central Coast and Southern regions continue to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with common rainfall of 10-30mm, locally over 60mm.
The meteorological agency warns that in thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. These extreme weather phenomena can affect agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works and infrastructure. In addition, localized heavy rain also poses a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in hilly areas and flooding in low-lying areas.
