The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has updated the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (June 23) in regions across the country.
Hot and intense heat will continue to cover many areas across the country in the next 24-48 hours. Some localities from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri may record temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
On June 23, the Northern region (excluding Lai Chau and Dien Bien) maintained hot weather with the highest temperature commonly from 35-37 degrees C, in some places above 37 degrees C. The lowest humidity during the day fluctuated from 55-60%, the hot weather lasted from 11 am to 5 pm.
On June 24, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region will continue to experience hot weather with similar temperatures, in some places exceeding 37 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological agency predicts that hot weather in the North is likely to last until around June 25.
From Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri continues to be the area most heavily affected by this heat wave.
On June 23 and 24, the highest temperature is commonly from 37-39 degrees C, many places above 40 degrees C. The lowest humidity is only from 45-50%, the hot weather lasts from 10 am to 7 pm.
In the area from Hue City to Da Nang City and the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, the highest temperature is commonly from 36-38 degrees C, with some places above 39 degrees C. Hot sun appears from about 10 am to 6 pm daily.
Meteorological experts warn that hot weather in the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang City and the East of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak is likely to last for many days to come.
Due to high temperatures combined with low air humidity, the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas increases due to a sharp increase in electricity demand. At the same time, many forest areas also face a high risk of forest fires.
In addition, prolonged hot weather can cause dehydration, exhaustion, heatstroke or heat shock for outdoor workers and those who are exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
People are advised to limit going out during peak heat hours, supplement enough water and take health protection measures during hot sunny days.
